Common Tox Questions

Nervous about taking the leap into Botox? Been there, felt that. Let me walk you through common concerns and questions. Your peace of mind is my priority. I'm confident you'll love your results!

What is Botox/Jeuveau? Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin protein derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium.

How does it work? Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals (inhibiting the release of acetylcholine) in the muscles where it's injected leading to a smoother and relaxed appearance.

How long does it last? Results duration can vary amoung individuals, but generally lasts around 3-6 months. Factors influencing how long results lasts include individual metabolism, dosage, and specific area treated.

How many units will I need? Determining the number of units needed for a treatment depends on several factors, including the area being treated, individual anatomy, the severity of wrinkles or lines, provider assessment, product used, and individual factors such as muscle strength, metabolism, & results desired.

What areas can be treated? Botox is commonly used to treat the forehead, frown lines, crow's feet, bunny lines, smoker's lines, chin, jawline, neck bands, gummy smile, and eyebrow lift.

Is Tox painful? Most people report minimal discomfort during Botox injections, often describing it as a slight pinch or stinging sensation. Numbing cream or ice packs can help minimize any discomfort.

When will I see results? You may start to notice improvements in your appearance within a few days after treatment, with full results becoming apparent within 1 to 2 weeks.

Are there any side effects? Common side effects of Tox may include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or headache at the injection site. More serious side effects are rare.

Am I a good canidate for Tox? Generally, adults who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results of Tox treatment are good candidates.

What are general aftercare tips for tox? 1. Refrain from touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the injected area for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the spread of the toxin to unintended muscles. 2. Stay upright: Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours after treatment. This helps prevent the Botox from migrating to unintended areas. 3. Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise or activities for the first 24 hours after treatment. This can increase blood flow to the injected area and potentially disperse the Botox. 4. Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and aid in the healing process. 5. Refrain from using saunas, hot tubs, or applying ice packs directly to the treated area for the first 24 hours. 6. Avoid consuming alcohol and medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen for the first 24 hours after treatment, as they can increase the risk of bruising.
